21 Jump Street – Revisited

A 22-year-old man in Arizona decided he wanted to go back to high school.  Not because he liked to learn, really.  He just wanted to play basketball and get a college scholarship.

Not letting his age and his previous high school diploma stand in his way, he accomplished his feat for more than a year at Kofa High School and Vista Alternative School in Yuma, Arizona.

According to the Yuma Sun, court records show:

  • The student has a Facebook page that shows his graduation from a Florida high school in 2005.  School officials confirmed this with the Florida school.
  • He created a fake birth certificate to enroll in Yuma.
  • When he enrolled in Yuma, he claimed he as a Hurricane Katrina victim and had lost most of the required enrollment documentation in the storm.
  • Oh, and he admitted to having sexual relations with a “fellow student” under the age of 18 on at least three occasions.

The man is charged with 11 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of forgery.

I don’t remember things going like this for Johnny Depp and the gang from 21 Jump Street.
