Why Does the Miami Heat Think They Can Win the Championship?

Do you consider this roster scary?

  • Joel Anthony
  • Carlos Arroyo
  • De ‘Sean Butler
  • Mario Chalmers
  • Yakhouba Diawara
  • Kenny Hasbrouck
  • Udonis Haslem
  • Juwan Howard
  • Zydrunas Ilgauskas
  • James Jones
  • Jamaal Magliore
  • Mike Miller
  • Dexter Pittman
  • Shavlik Randolph
  • Jarvis Varnado

That’s the bunch of basketball players that Pat Riley has collected to surround basketball’s ultimate trio:  LeBron, Dwyane, and Bosh.

Should the NBA be scared?  Seriously?  What if the Magic trades for Chris Paul?  Then you’d have Chris Paul, Dwight Howard and Vince Carter on the same team.  Stop right there and you just might have a better threesome.  And, I haven’t even thrown in Rashard Lewis.  Advantage:  Magic.  LeBron isn’t even on the best team in Florida.

I know.  The games haven’t been played yet.  And, the rosters are not done changing.  But why do the Big Three think they are superior?  A Chris Paul move to Orlando or a Jazzed-up roster in Chicago just might be better than the Heat’s.

The NBA is sitting on tons of drama heading into the 2010-2011 season.  Most of the world is rooting against Miami’s Heat.  I hate to say it, but it will be fun to see how this plays out.
