Wimbledon Olympics Will Not Be All-White

May 30, 2010 - Paris, France - VENUS WILLIAMS (USA) - ROLAND GARROS 2010.

Wimbledon is stuffy.  It’s stars cannot express themselves.  We get nothing like Venus Williams at the French Open.  But, in 2012, Wimbledon will let it’s hair down.  Said All England Club chief Ian Ritchie:

“We hope to some extent there will be a different type of audience. It is not a repeat of the Championships. It will be its own competition, have its own style and it will play out in its own way.”

Yes, Wimbledon has a much more sophisticated audience.  The Olympics, on the other hand, draws in those people who might like watching tennis a little less “bland”.  I say, it’s all in the name of TV ratings.

Aug. 01, 2010 - Stanford, California, United States of America - 01 August 2010: Victoria Azarenka (BLR) faces Maria Sharapova.

Sep 30, 2008 - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - ANNA KOURNAKOVA competed at the Citadel Group Championships at the Palisades in Charlotte. Anna/Tim Wilkison lost the first match vs Chanda Rubin/Jimmy Arias 6:7 but Anna won her 2nd match with Karel Novacek 7:6 vs Rubin/Tim Wilkison Photo via Newscom
