Pacers Guard Brandon Rush Proves NBA Drug Policy is a Joke

March 14, 2010 Milwaukee, WI. Bradley Center..Indiana Pacers Brandon Rush brings the ball up on a fast break, Rush had 13 points against the Bucks today..Milwaukee Buck won over the Indiana Pacers 98-94. Mike McGinnis/CSM.

As highlighted by the Indianapolis Star, Pacers guard Brandon Rush is laughing at the NBA drug policy.

Players enter a marijuana program after the first offense. They are fined $25,000 and have to re-enter the program after the second offense. As a third-time offender, Rush must re-enter the program and serve his suspension.

So, going through the program was no big deal to Brandon Rush.  More drugs was worth it.  Being fined $25,000?  No big deal, says Brandon Rush.  Getting caught a third time and missing a few games shouldn’t really be all that bad.  Heck, even another violation gets him a few more games vacation.

It’s clear, the NBA drug policy has no teeth.  Brandon Rush has proven that.  I’m hoping that Pacers management and Larry Bird feel that Brandon Rush is a joke himself and that he’s properly placed on the NBA trash heap.  I’m sure there’s a CBA team somewhere that might make him appreciate more what he had.
