The Philadelphia Flyers are wondering if their Montreal opponents aren’t good sports.  According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, the Flyers are suggesting it was sabotage.

Allegedly, there was a sand-like substance in the hallway leading from the locker room to the ice.  This caused several Flyers players to have skate problems throughout game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, a game that they won 3-0.  Several players were forced to miss shifts to have their skates sharpened.

But, Montreal Canadiens defenseman Jaroslav Spacek had a different take on why so many Philadelphia players continued to leave the ice.

“I thought they had diarrhea, going back and forth from the locker room.  The guys were talking on the plane. What happened? … If (the Flyers) have trouble, maybe they can wear those skate protectors like figure skaters.”

All I have to say is, diarrhea is no laughing matter.  And, Spacek now has the rest of the season off.  The Flyers clinched a return trip to the Stanley Cup Finals with a win last night.

Mayor Tom Menino and his now famous “Varitek splits the uprights” speech.  Do you suppose the script had Varitek, or did it have Vinatieri and he read it wrong?  It didn’t really matter to the approximately 500 fans who were attending the celebration honoring Bruin great Bobby Orr.  They figured he was a dimwit either way.
