Washington Wizards Need to Send Gilbert Arenas Packing

The storied career of Gilbert Arenas added another chapter on Wednesday. Arenas has been fined by the Wizards for faking a knee injury so he didn’t have to play in their preseason opener. His reasoning? It was all in the spirit of the team. He was trying to get teammate Nick Young more time on the court.

“I told [Young] I’d sacrifice playing tonight so he can get some time in because I know he’s kind of frustrated he’s not getting a chance to crack the [small forward] position, especially since we’re going three guards. So I told him I’ll go and fake an injury or say something’s wrong with me so you can start.”

And, yet again, to him it’s much ado about nothing. Here’s everyone else making a big deal about something Arenas has done. To listen to him, the media is piling on.

“I screwed up again, so I just want to say sorry. I wasn’t really thinking that this was going to be another media outburst. It’s like everything I do now, someone, tit for tat, tries to blow it out of proportion.

If I wouldn’t [have] made any comments, you guys wouldn’t have known, right? Right. So, let’s just say I blew it again. You guys want somebody honest, but you don’t want somebody honest. I messed up again. I’ll never do it again.

Arenas is working himself back from a variety of injuries that have limited him to just 47 games in the past three seasons. The Wizards really don’t need this type of player around their team. They have this year’s top draft pick in John Wall in camp. It seems to me they just need to start fresh and let Gilbert Arenas go somewhere else. Perhaps he could join Allen Iverson in Turkey.

Wizards Working on Team Unity

Washington Wizards teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton weren’t seeing eye to eye the other day. Apparently, Arenas owes Crittenton money from a gambling debt. In the dispute that took place in the team locker room, Arenas allegedly pulled a gun from his locker. Not to be outdone, Crittendon also produced a gun.

I’m thinking this is a team in disarray. It’s no wonder why they are among the worst teams in the NBA. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that the days of Gilbert Arenas in a Wizards uniform are limited.
